It all began in 1961 when a little boat shed was built on the outskirts of town on the banks of the beautiful Hastings River.

In 1972 Brian and Margaret Young bought the building renovated it and converted it to a seafood bar. Anna Wutte and Elke Leslie bought the Whalebone Wharf in 1975 and added a cocktail bar to the restaurant.

The Whalebone Wharf became very popular with locals and tourists alike who enjoyed the 'Continental Flavour' Anna and Elke brought to Port Macquarie.
